Vol. #15 Urinary
Tract Infections
July 2007
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) include Cystitis
(bladder infection), urethritis (urethra infection), and kidney
problems. These bacterial infections are typically more common in
women but can also be seen in men, possibly as a sign of a more
serious underlying condition. Symptoms of a UTI include persistent
discomfort and urge to urinate, painful urination, cloudy urine, and
at times there may be blood in the urine. They are commonly thought to
be caused by sexual contact but infections can occur quite easily,
particularly in women. Increased susceptibility can at times be
attributed to stress, a weakened immune system, antibiotic use, and
other factors. In the case of recurrent infections, there are a few
lifestyle changes that are recommended, such as reduced consumption of
foods that enhance acidity in the body, such as sugar, alcohol,
coffee, refined and processed foods, etc.
Recommended:
Colloidal silver: A natural antibiotic, it
destroys bacteria, viruses and fungi.
Garlic (new chapter): Natural antibiotic that
enhances the immune system.
Vitamin C: Acidifies the urine and inhibits
growth of bacteria
Prebiotics: Needed to restore and strengthen
intestinal flora, strengthens natural defenses
Calcium: Helps with bladder irritability
Magnesium: supports the body under stress
Cranberry: inhibits bacterial growth in the
urine and prevent bacteria from sticking to the lining of the urinary
tract and bladder.
Stress-X: infections appear as the result of
stress on the body, so minimizing the stress response minimizes the
risk of getting an infection and also blunts the discomfort.
