Vol. #16  Triphala: the Ayurvedic Aid

Triphala means "three fruits" namely, amlaki, haritaki and bhallataki. It is an ayurvedic remedy that has been used for ages in India to cleanse and purify the organs and digestive system as well as tone the skin and provide antioxidant effects. Triphala provides gentle internal cleansing, removing excess waste and improving digestion and assimilation.

Recent medical research has unveiled a breakthrough in cancer treatment and prevention in Triphala's antioxidant and anti-tumor properties. A report presented in 2005 in the Journal of Experimental and Clinical Cancer Research from the Radiation and Cancer Biology Laboratory at Jawaharlal Nehru University noted that Triphala was effective in reducing the incidence of tumors.

In a study published in the January 2006 issue of Cancer Letters, scientists at the Radiation Biology and Health Sciences Division of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, found that Triphala had the ability to induce cytotoxicity (cell death) in tumor cells while sparing the normal cells. These results were compounded by similar findings by the Department of Botanical Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.  Check the web for even more information and published findings on the Cancer-fighting benefits of Triphala.

The antioxidant properties of Triphala also prevent aging, impart immunity, improve mental faculties and work as an anti-inflammatory. Triphala can even help revitalize the metabolism and works in the removal of excess fat in the body, it is also said to balance blood sugar levels, which can curb cravings and result in long-term weight loss.

Triphala purifies the blood by detoxifying the liver and restoring healthy digestion. It is the ideal supplement for people with digestive problems, particularly those with IBS because it acts as an anti-spasmodic, which calms intestinal spasms while preventing constipation as it gently cleanses the colon without causing any cramping or irritation.

We've shown that Triphala is beneficial in preventing and treating 3 of the biggest health concerns facing North Americans today: cancer, excess weight, and digestive disorders but the list goes on!

Triphala is nature's adaptogenic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti-yeast, antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, blood pressure and cholesterol lowering, digestive, diuretic, and laxative. As if that weren't enough, it can even be used for early stages of conjunctivitis, myopia, glaucoma and cataracts. Triphala is also said to increase the number of red blood cells and improve skin tone and complexion. When dissolved in one's mouth, Triphala can be used to clear congestion and headaches.

Triphala should be ingested once a day, every day on a long term basis for maximum benefits, consult the trained staff at Jessy Naturel for more information.
